University of North Texas Eye Research Institute
On Monday Morning, October 30th, the University of North Texas Eye Research Institute dedicated a new van to provide vision screening for children in our community. UNT has continued to be a valued partner in our community supporting vision screening efforts along with Lions. We worked with UNT and the North Texas Eye Research Institute at the Saginaw Back to School program in August, Hope Farm and the Hispanic Wellness programs. Our lions provided some of the initial training to the UNT staff and students to get them started in these local community service programs.
Two Lions attended the ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday. LOEB 2nd VP Michelle Greco and past president Jon Niemczyk were there to meet the staff and local officials at the dedication. Mayor Betsy Price spoke as did the president of UNT. The van is very recognizable and has seating inside to conduct screenings using their Plusoptix S12s. UNT is working with local preschool children thru Ft Worth ISD.
