In observance of World Diabetes Day (Nov. 14th) and World Diabetes Month (November), the MD-2 Lions Clubs of Texas invites you to participate in a virtual stride (walk, run, bike, or dance).
Many of us have taken advantage of the COVID-19 shutdowns to get out of the house and walk, run, or bike. We encourage Lions to exercise during the month and keep track of their exercise activity. We want to encourage our communities to make healthy living choices such as exercise. Exercise is one of the controlling factors that can reduce your risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. The virtual stride is a great way to support Diabetes Awareness and get much-needed exercise during this pandemic.
From Nov. 1st through Nov. 30th, we ask Lions to record how far you walk, run, bike, or dance during the month. JUST DO WHAT YOU DO, BUT RECORD IT!! If you do it with your spouse, children, or friends, include them as well. Lions should report their results to their Lions Club Secretary or Diabetes Chair no later than Dec. 31st. The Secretary or Diabetes Chair should collect your club’s results and report them to your District Diabetes Awareness Chair. Let’s challenge what we did last year!
The district newsletter will note participating Clubs and recognize on a per-club basis:
- the most miles walked, ran, and biked,
- the highest average miles per participant,
- and the highest average miles per Lion.
District winners will be announced at the Midwinter Conference in Jan. 2022 and will automatically compete for the state. Winners for the MD2 will be announced at the Feb. CoG meeting in Kerrville, TX.
