Speaker: Mark Cantrell, Chief, Colleyville Fire Department
The Colleyville Fire Department serves to protect the community of more than 24,000 residents covering 13 square miles with fire and medical services across three fire stations.
Mark Cantrell has been with the Colleyville Fire Department for 19 years, first joining the City in 2001 as a firefighter/EMT. He rose quickly through the ranks of the Colleyville Fire Department becoming a firefighter/paramedic in 2004, followed by Lieutenant in 2007, Battalion Chief in 2009 and ultimately appointed to the position of Fire Chief on December 18, 2018. During his tenure, Mark has completed two interim chief appointments. Mark has led all aspects of the fire department including EMS, training, grant writing, public engagement programs, and budget preparation. In addition to his work with Colleyville, Mark has served previously in volunteer fire service roles for Bridgeport Fire and Rescue. Mark has a Bachelor of Science degree from Tarleton State University as well as many other certifications such as TCFP advance firefighter, TCFP fire officer II, TCFP instructor, and SFFMA master firefighter. Mark was named the Colleyville firefighter of the year in 2005 and 2006, and received the Chief’s award in 2009. Mark is currently serving as the First Vice President of the Northeast Fire Department Association. Mark has been involved in coaching youth sports for over 20 years but his greatest accomplishment is his wonderful family including his wife Kayla and four kids.
