The Colleyville Lions Club Annual Easter Egg Festival,” will be held once again this year at Delaney Vineyards, Grapevine, on Saturday, April 11th. An extravagant event for families, the 9th Annual Easter Egg Festival will feature a variety of fun, thrilling activities for children to enjoy, along with appearances by the Easter Bunny! It’s a wonderful time for all and a great way to start your holiday weekend.
If you want to kick off your family’s Easter celebrations before the big day, stop by the Easter Egg Festival Saturday, April 11, 2020. The exciting event is free and will take place from 12:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Face painting, bounce houses, photos with the Easter Bunny, and live music will keep kids and adults entertained all day long. Free vision screenings will also be available for children, along with a number of great prizes for all age groups.
This amazing charity event benefits several Lions programs, including Texas Lions Camp, which provides a week-long camping experience for children with disabilities, this Festival is a commendable Grapevine event provided by the Colleyville Lions Club. The Easter Egg Hunt is free, tickets are available for food, photos with the Easter Bunny, and raffle items. Bring your family to Delaney Vineyards, located at 2000 Champagne Blvd, on Saturday, April 20th, to take part in all the festivities the event has to offer.

Our Services
Texas Lions Camp is a residential camping facility for children with physical disabilities, type 1 diabetes and cancer. The Camp is located on over 500 acres in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, and is designed to introduce the “Can Do” philosophy to children dealing with special medical conditions.
Children with special needs from all over the State of Texas are invited to attend one of 9 weeks, which we hope will become one of their life-long childhood memories. A week designed for fun, exploration and challenge. Texas Lions Camp is staffed by professional medical personnel and professionally trained camp counselors that are dedicated to meeting the needs of children attending camp.
Our Mission
The primary purpose of the Camp is to provide, without charge, a camp for physically disabled, hearing/vision impaired, and diabetic children from the State of Texas, regardless of race, religion, or national origin. Our goal is to provide an atmosphere wherein campers will learn the “Can Do” philosophy and be allowed to achieve maximum personal growth and self-esteem.

The Texas Lions Camp is recognized as a non-profit corporation, under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. The Camp is accredited by the American Camping Association, and is licensed by the Texas Department of Health.
History
The Texas Lions Camp was chartered in 1949 in response to the terrible polio epidemic that forever changed the lives of so many Texas children. Since that time, the Texas Lions Camp has dynamically changed to include children who have all manner and types of physical disabilities, diabetes and cancer. Today, we are serving more children than at anyother time in our history. Over 1,500 children per summer attend Texas Lions Camp.

What does it mean to be a Lion who supports sight preservation, awareness and action? It means that as an organization and as individuals, we want to take a leadership role to help all people retain our very special gift of sight. Sometimes we take it for granted yet when we do have a vision problem, it makes a big impact on our life. Often, vision problems are preventable too.
That’s where we as Lions step up. Our actions at vision screenings, our ability to discuss vision issues with our family and friends and our willingness to take action may make the difference in someone’s life. Yes, we can change the world one person at a time.
Our Colleyville Club has 23 Lions that are truly Visionaries and who have been involved in vision screenings this year. As the largest Lions Club in District 2E2, we can make a big impact on the lives of children’s and adults in our community. We also get to see how our actions are making a difference. Simply ask the parents of a child that got screened last year and who now wears glasses. Their self-esteem, attitude and ability to thrive has soared. 80% of what we learn is thru our sense of sight. Poor vision can be a life long barrier for growth and happiness. We can change that.
Two recent screenings events included the GCISD Back to School and the Six Stones Health Fairs. Our Lions screened over 300 children and referred nearly 50% for additional services and potentially an eye exam.

How can you be part of these next programs? You can sign up with Lion Jon Niemczyk or Stan Hall to be a volunteer. You can also take a 2½ hour certification class to learn to use the screening instruments. There are two different types, one for children and one for adults.

We’re overa month into the school year, and this is when functional vision problems start to emerge — even among kids who have never struggled in school before.
Why? Because as children advance a grade level, the functional vision problems that they’ve managed to adapt to suddenly become too much to overcome. The reading becomes too challenging, the print too small, the homework too much.

On Friday, July 28, 2nd Vice District Governor Vince Rosen and District Sight Preservation, Awareness & Action Chair Jon Niemczyk, members of the Colleyville Lions Club, presented an $800 donation check to E. Richard Jordan, Associate Director of the Southwestern Medical Center Transplant Service Center. These funds will provide medical care and support the training of physician, healthcare professional and medical scientists of the future.
District 2E2 Lions have supported the Transplant Services Center by providing education, awareness and funding in our community about the value and benefits of tissue donation. Tissue donations can include corneas, skin, bone, heart values and connective tissues. Cornea donations can restore sight in children and adults suffering from cornea damage and disease. Each year, our District participates in two events that focus on the impact that tissue and organ donation can make in our community. Please plan to attend the Thanksgiving Remembrance at the Gooch Center in Dallas on Sunday, November 19th and the Garden of Life Remembrance at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden on April 14th.
