Deanna Blair will speak to us about the importance of Mental Health. She has transformed herself from a successful marketing and promotional business owner after 12 years into a public speaker on mental health and mental illness. This transformation came about two years ago when her mother was stricken with several health issues that left her a paraplegic. Her mother was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia 34 year ago. This is mental health disorder that affects a person’s ability to think, feel, and behave clearly.
After running away from this illness most Deanna’s life, the illnesses that occurred with her mom over the last couple of years, led Deanna on a new path of wanting to speak to others around the world about mental illness. She is helping people understand that they are not alone, and that mental illness can be overcome. She is in the process of writing two books, which are due out this summer. Deanna is currently attending Tarrant County College working on her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She is a Mental Health Family-to- Family Education Teacher for National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI). She is a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor. Deanna is working toward being a Master Certified Health Coach and Life Coach within the next two years.
