DESCRIPTION:Sharen Wilson took office as the Criminal District Attorney of Tarrant County in January 2015 as the first woman to serve as Criminal District Attorney in Tarrant County.  Sharen began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office\, where she went on to become the first female unit chief. After serving in private practice representing both civil and criminal clients\, she was appointed by Governor Bill Clements to the bench of Tarrant’s Criminal District Court No. 1. \nShe is board certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization\, and is the past chair of the Criminal Law Specialization Exam Committee for Texas. She has served as an adjunct professor for TCU and Texas Wesleyan School of Law\, and on faculty for the National Judicial College and National Center for State Courts. \nSharen grew up in the Amarillo area\, where she graduated from Amarillo College\, Texas Tech University\, and the Texas Tech University School of Law. In 2016\, she was honored as a Distinguished Alumni by Texas Tech University Law School. \nSharen and her husband John reside in Fort Worth. They have four adult children\, eight grandchildren and two dogs.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for Breakfast or via Zoom to learn about Backpacks for the Homeless from our speaker\, Sophie Diaz. \nSophie Tel Diaz is proud to live\, work and run Backpacks for the Homeless\, a 501c3 charitable organization\, in Colleyville. Sophie is originally from France\, she lived in Spain for several years where she met her husband Drew Diaz\, a Texan\, and after they were married moved to Colleyville. While Drew and Sophie were busy working and raising their family\, their lives were changed forever. Their son developed a brain disorder and his life was about to drastically change. With growing complications\, he became homeless. Because of the situation\, they found the silver lining that gave them the spark to help more people in their son’s situation. That is how Backpacks for the Homeless started.

DESCRIPTION:Our speaker\, Dr. Julius Sonko will be talking about transforming rural livelihoods by alleviating unemployment\, food\, and water shortages. \nDr. Julius Sonko attended Dallas Baptist University in Texas\, where he earned a doctorate in Higher Education Leadership. He also attended the University of Dallas in Texas\, where he earned an MBA in Information Technology and a Master of Management in Financial Services. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Makerere University in Uganda (his native country). Dr. Sonko possesses over fifteen years of progressive university teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate level. He is married to Eva and their marriage of 22 years is blessed with a girl and three boys\, and as a family they attend First Baptist Dallas Church in Texas. \n  \nFor civic engagement\, Dr. Sonko founded EATBETA International Foundation\, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to transform rural livelihoods by alleviating unemployment and food shortage in sub-Saharan Africa. Through EATBETA\, Dr. Sonko mobilizes and leads volunteers\, including university students\, from USA to go and train rural farmers in Uganda. The key objective of the trainings is to enhance rural farmers’ skills in: using farm tools\, livestock nutrition\, beekeeping\, modern farming techniques\, and in basic business/financial management. In the last three years\, over 300 rural farmers in Uganda have benefited from the training programs provided by EATBETA.

DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Mark Cantrell\, Chief\, Colleyville Fire Department \nThe Colleyville Fire Department serves to protect the community of more than 24\,000 residents covering 13 square miles with fire and medical services across three fire stations. \nMark Cantrell has been with the Colleyville Fire Department for 19 years\, first joining the City in 2001 as a firefighter/EMT. He rose quickly through the ranks of the Colleyville Fire Department becoming a firefighter/paramedic in 2004\, followed by Lieutenant in 2007\, Battalion Chief in 2009 and ultimately appointed to the position of Fire Chief on December 18\, 2018. During his tenure\, Mark has completed two interim chief appointments. Mark has led all aspects of the fire department including EMS\, training\, grant writing\, public engagement programs\, and budget preparation. In addition to his work with Colleyville\, Mark has served previously in volunteer fire service roles for Bridgeport Fire and Rescue. Mark has a Bachelor of Science degree from Tarleton State University as well as many other certifications such as TCFP advance firefighter\, TCFP fire officer II\, TCFP instructor\, and SFFMA master firefighter. Mark was named the Colleyville firefighter of the year in 2005 and 2006\, and received the Chief’s award in 2009. Mark is currently serving as the First Vice President of the Northeast Fire Department Association. Mark has been involved in coaching youth sports for over 20 years but his greatest accomplishment is his wonderful family including his wife Kayla and four kids.

Upon receiving his degree he opened up his own private practice in Costa Rica while also serving as the clinical instructor at the University of Costa Rica. In 2002\, he was accepted into the graduate prosthodontist program at BCD. From 2005 to 2007 he took part in an implant fellowship program at BCD\, under the direction of Dr. Stephen Parel\, where he later obtained his faculty appointment as Clinical Director for the Center for Maxillofacial Prosthodontist Clinic and Assistant Professor with the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Baylor College of Dentistry (BCD) in Dallas. Texas. Dr. Gonzalez has lectured both nationally and internationally on different topics in prosthodontist and implant surgery.
